What Is a Veneer?

A veneer is a thin porcelain shell bonded on top of the natural tooth. It is approximately a half millimeter thick. The natural tooth requires minimal preparation—sometimes none at all.

Once they are applied, they can cover up a number of dental problems including:

  • Severe stains
  • Unusually shaped teeth
  • Disproportionately small teeth
  • Minor misalignment
  • Slightly gapped teeth

For even more comprehensive results, you can combine veneers with other treatments during a smile makeover. In addition to these benefits, veneers can help to protect the patient’s teeth from future stains and help to strengthen teeth.

What Can Veneers Do for My Face?

Veneers have revolutionized the field of esthetic dentistry. Teeth are the brightest feature on the face, and therefore, if they are not born into the right position, they actually cause a sense of asymmetry to the face.

What Can I Expect if I Choose Veneers?

During your initial visit, we will take photographs and create enhanced images to show you what your teeth will look like with veneers. Your new smile begins with impressions of your teeth. Our Smile Makers Team then creates mock-up veneers, known as “wax-ups” that you will wear temporarily. This trial-run will allow us to make any revisions to the shape or color of the veneers and address any bite issues that may arise to ensure the final product is perfectly customized to your needs. Once you are 100% satisfied, our master ceramicist will create your permanent veneers. During your final visit to our office, we will bond the veneers to your teeth for a gorgeous new smile that can last up to 15 years with proper care.

How Long Do Porcelain Veneers Last—Will They Stain Like Natural Teeth?

Veneers can last from 10 to 15 years, sometimes longer. They’re significantly more resistant to stain and discoloration and unlike your natural teeth, maintain their brightness and luster for many years.

Do Veneers Require Special Care?

You can treat veneers just as you would your natural teeth. Porcelain veneers are strong, durable, and resistant to staining.
